Healthcare
Universal (Social) Healthcare is not the answer.  It hasn’t worked in the countries that have it, it won’t work here.  I believe the answer lies within the free market system and opening up the state borders to the consumers.  Let the people chose the policy that pertains to their specific needs and budget.

Jobs – the Economy
Fort Collins must continue to be Business friendly.  Growth, when managed properly, allows for community and individual freedom.  No growth can lead to community suffocation.  Our leaders must remove those obstacles that stifle new growth, support entrepreneurs, and welcome strong growth from all businesses who wish to establish deep roots here in Fort Collins.

Property Taxes
Donna believes the individual has the right to own property, but shouldn’t be inundated by unfair, or even unlawful property taxes by the state legislature, and will stand against those legislators who propose raising property taxes without the knowledge and affirmation of the Colorado voter.

Uranium Mining
Our current legislators have fed off of the fears of their constituents when they had a golden opportunity to educate.  Uranium mining is not going to go away in Colorado.  There are now several mining companies in the state.  It is time the truth be told about the in-situ process and the people’s fears eased.  Please click here to read More:

Property Rights
Although the U.S. Constitution speaks to Eminent Domain and the government’s right to take private property for government use, with proper compensation, Donna believes it is unconstitutional to take private property from an individual, condemn it, and then give it to another individual for development.

Education

  • Let the family decide where the child(ren) attends school (public, private, or home)
  • Implement mentor/apprenticeship programs in High School curriculum

Right to Life
Donna believes that Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness are just a few unalienable rights granted by the Creator and mentioned in the Declaration of Independence. Committed to protecting the life of the unborn, Donna is a staunch defender for the sanctity of human life.   She does believe a woman has the right to make choices when it comes to the maintenance/management of her own body, but those choices, when able, should be made prior to the engagement of sex.  She believes that Life begins at conception; as does that individual’s right to Liberty, and their Pursuit of Happiness.

Transportation
Because transportation issues differ for each region in the state, transportation dollars should be dispersed regionally.  Although District 53 may not have direct transportation issues, Donna will work hard with other state representatives and senators to make sure that our region receives its share of transportation dollars to support and strengthen its transformational infrastructure.

Immigration
Immigration laws must be enforced for national security and economic reasons.  With this said, Donna does not agree with the North American Union, which allows trucks to cross our northern and/or southern borders into our country without proper identification.  Donna believes we need to:

  • Strictly control our national borders – all of them
  • Enforce tougher internal regulations at both the state and local levels
  • Enforce current laws that prevent businesses from hiring illegal immigrants
  • Encourage illegal immigrants to become legal citizens by going through the legal system already in place; including stronger encouragement for using English as the national language

2nd Amendment Rights
Donna believes that, according to the second amendment of the Constitution, it is the right of all law-abiding citizens to own and bear arms.

The Legislature
It is time for our Legislators to put aside their personal agendas, their private ambitions, and their me -only attitudes and join forces for the good of the people they were elected to represent.  Donna is a fighter and won’t hesitate to stand up and clearly represent the people of District 53, but she is also listener, a researcher, and a thinker who will work hard so both parties can come to the conclusion that is best for the citizens of Colorado.
